Opportunities in GenAI Education & Research

Generative AI is transforming both education and research by offering powerful tools for creativity, analysis, and innovation. In education, GenAI enables personalized learning experiences, supports curriculum development, and enhances teaching through intelligent tutoring systems and content generation. For researchers, it opens new frontiers in data analysis, simulation, and hypothesis generation across disciplines—from engineering and life sciences to the humanities. Whether used to co-author papers, generate synthetic data, or explore ethical implications, GenAI is becoming an essential part of academic inquiry and pedagogy.

Curriculum Integration Workshop Series

The Curriculum Integration Workshop Series is a free professional development opportunity for faculty and staff who want to expand their competencies and utilization of GenAI tools and methods. The targeted workshops are designed to build foundational knowledge and practical skills in using Gen AI tools.

This four-part series offers targeted, hands-on workshops that support both foundational learning and advanced application. Whether you’re new to GenAI or looking to deepen your expertise, the series provides practical guidance for integrating AI into teaching, learning, and assessment.

Generative AI Research for Education Grant Program

The Generative AI Research for Education (GAIRE) grant program is a collaboration between Texas A&M Institute of Data Science (TAMIDS) and the Texas A&M Center for Teaching Excellence (CTE), supported by OpenAI through the NextGenAI Consortium. The grant program provides OpenAI API credits and additional support to advance GenAI literacy through research.

Proposals for the 2025 Call need to be submitted as a single PDF by December 7, 2025, at 11:59 PM CST.

Student AI Clubs

Many Texas A&M student organizations are passionate about artificial intelligence. These groups foster learning, innovation, and community engagement around AI technologies, offering students opportunities to explore cutting-edge tools, participate in hands-on projects, and connect with peers and professionals in the field.

Research in Artificial Intelligence for Science and Engineering

The Research in Artificial Intelligence for Science and Engineering (RAISE) initiative aims to build a robust coordination network at Texas A&M, uniting foundational AI research with scientific and engineering applications.

  • Foundational AI Research: Encompassing critical areas such as machine learning, computer vision, large language models, and intelligent agents, foundational research is pivotal for advancing AI.
  • AI for Science: The intersection of AI and scientific research presents transformative opportunities in quantum physics, chemistry, materials science, and more.
  • AI for Engineering: AI’s application in engineering is reshaping how complex systems like fluid dynamics and aerodynamics are designed, analyzed, and optimized.

The ultimate goal is to foster collaboration, identify funding opportunities, and position Texas A&M to secure large-scale research grants, including center- and institute-level funding.
