Texas A&M University has joined OpenAI’s NexGenAI consortium, a groundbreaking $50 million collaboration launched by 15 leading institutions in artificial intelligence (AI) research and education. As the only Texas-based university in the program, Texas A&M’s selection underscores its growing leadership in AI.

NexGenAI is designed to provide universities and research institutions with cutting-edge AI tools and resources to push the boundaries of knowledge and equip the next generation of AI leaders. Through this initiative, the Texas A&M Institute of Data Science (TAMIDS), in association with the Texas A&M University College of Engineering, will spearhead the Generative AI Literacy Initiative, which aims to expand AI fluency among students, researchers, and industry professionals.


Texas A&M Center for Teaching Excellence

The Center for Teaching Excellence supports Texas A&M University’s educational mission by forging partnerships to inspire and sustain faculty, student, and organizational transformation through innovative, dynamic, and inclusive learning design guided by evidence-based practices.

CTE is dedicated to navigating and responding to the impact of Generative AI in higher education.  Their mission is to equip students and educators with the latest resources and strategies to embrace the changing landscape of AI in education.

MathWorks

MathWorks is proud to support Texas A&M’s Generative AI Literacy Initiative, led by Texas A&M Institute of Data Science (TAMIDS), in association with the Texas A&M University College of Engineering. Through expert-led seminars, hands-on workshops, and curriculum resources, MathWorks supports faculty and students to integrate Generative AI into teaching, learning, and research activities. This partnership reflects our commitment to preparing the future workforce with the skills needed to responsibly apply Generative AI across disciplines.


FreeFuse

FreeFuse is proud to support Texas A&M’s Generative AI Initiative in advancing applied AI literacy and innovation. As a pioneer in interactive, multipath media technology, FreeFuse enables organizations to transform passive content into dynamic learning and engagement experiences. By collaborating with the Gen AI Institute, FreeFuse helps bridge academic insight and industry application through mentorship, workshops, and real-world projects across domains like healthcare, sports technology, and workforce training. Together, we are building scalable ecosystems that prepare the next generation of AI-savvy professionals and creators.

How to become a supporter?

You can support the Generative AI Literacy Initiative by actively engaging with our activities and helping grow AI fluency across Texas A&M and its partners.

Individuals can attend or host workshops, share their real-world use cases and skill needs, and volunteer as a departmental or industry liaison to co-develop trainings, micro-credentials, and pilot projects.

Sponsoring organizations can offer student projects or internships, provide datasets or computing resources, offer funding and scholarships, and more.
